About: The Chambers

Chambers were set up in Colchester in 1946 by the late Gerald Hines Q.C. to provide a service so that local solicitors and their clients would not have to make the journey to London. The service proved so popular and the demand for a local Bar so great that we have, over the years, added premises in Norwich and now Chelmsford (both Tier 1 court centres) and taken over existing chambers in Ipswich. Throughout we have pursued an active policy of recruitment which has seen our numbers grow from the original three tenants to its present size.

With our comprehensive resources, up-to-date communications technology and professional management we have earned an outstanding reputation throughout East Anglia and beyond for the quality of the advocacy and advice our members routinely provide.
