Marcus Croskell

Criminal Practice

Marcus appears in the Crown Court and Magistrates' Courts across East Anglia and London acting predominantly in cases involving violence, sexual offences, dishonesty (including fraud) and drug related offences. He also has experience in proceedings under POCA 2002 both on conviction and under the provisions that allow for civil recovery.

He prosecutes and defends acting for a variety of defence solicitors as well as for the Crown Prosecution Service, HM Revenue and Customs and the Department for Work and Pensions. Furthermore Marcus also undertakes defence Courts Martial work at both full Courts Martial level and Summary Appeals.

He previously worked for Russell, Jones and Walker as a paralegal dealing with offences of rape, violence and serious fraud. Significant cases include large-scale white-collar crime including multi-million pound VAT "carousel" frauds and evasion of import duty on cigarettes.

Interesting cases:

R V Zdanov & Others: Acted as Junior Counsel for the first Defendant on the indictment in a five-week trial for an offence of conspiracy to defraud international clearing banks involving large quantities of counterfeit credit cards. 

R v Wilson: Successfully defended serving prisoner accused of causing ABH to prison officers.

Civil Practice

Accepts instructions in a variety of personal injury and road traffic accident claims for advice and/or representation at court.

Other Interests

Away from work, Marcus's interests include both following and participating in a number of sports including rugby and sailing and taking every opportunity to explore new parts of the globe.
