An end to "No win, no fee, no cost"?Jackson Report's radical proposals for reducing the costs of litigation, particularly for defendants, get firm support of senior judges
Sir Rupert Jackson and his team have produced their final report, with radical proposals for changes to funding, the abolition of referral fees, non-recoverability of ATE insurance premiums, and the possible introduction of contingency fees, partial cost-shifting, and 10% increases in Claimant’s damages where Part 36 offers are rejected. The report's recommendations have received strong backing from both the Lord Chief Justice and the Master of the Rolls.
For a detailed summary see page 463 of the Final Report.
The New Law Journal has produced an excellent (and much watched) free webinar on the report’s recommendations, including a valuable contribution from HH Michael Cook (of Cook on Costs) : see www.newlawjournal.co.uk/nlj/webcast
