Nicholas Michael LLB (Hons) (Bristol),
LLM (Commercial & Corporate Law) (Lond)

"an approachable and constructive commercial junior" : Legal 500 (2010)

"pushing the boundaries of his call" : Legal 500 (2011)

Nick came to East Anglian Chambers after completing a first six pupillage at 4 King's Bench Walk. Whilst there he was involved in a wide range of commercial cases concerning corporate insolvency, international and domestic trade, agency, commercial property, contract and international arbitration.

The rapid progress he has made in establishing himself professionally is reflected in the quality work that he has already undertaken and the notable clients who have instructed him. Examples include:

  • Advising a well known international money lender on several strategic commercial contracts it has with some of the world’s largest banks and financial institutions
  • Receiving instructions to appear in numerous multi-track cases concerning trials for claims as much as £500,000 and in interlocutory applications, at venues across East Anglia, the Royal Courts of Justice and the Central London County Court
  • Appearing on behalf of a famous Norwich-based mustard producer; regional developers of prime locations in Norwich and Ipswich; local authorities; well-known high street banks, publishers; insurers and insurance brokers.

Presently, Nick carries on practice in commercial law, but also maintains a general civil practice. He now receives regular instructions in the following areas:

  • Contract
  • Credit Hire
  • Landlord and Tenant (including contested housing work)
  • Negligence
  • Personal Injury
  • Bailment
  • Insolvency
  • Trusts

Whilst Nick appears in court almost daily, he enjoys a busy paperwork practice and is prepared to turnaround paperwork quickly if required to do so and at competitive prices.

Employment

Nick also represents respondent companies, individual employees and unions in areas of employment law, including unfair dismissal, redundancy and discrimination.

Interests

Nick unashamedly loves fast cars and expensive gadgets!
