Litigation

Our team is ready and able to deal with your employment dispute through mediation, tribunal litigation and beyond, if needed.  We can assist solicitors and public access clients alike through the process of preparing for preliminary and final hearings as well as providing expert advice and advocacy on behalf of clients at all stages.  We find that solicitors like to get us involved in preparing a client’s case at an early stage, especially in discrimination, equal pay and detriment claims.  Our barristers will welcome an initial discussion about your case to briefly discuss a way forward.

Situational employment advice 

We are also ready and available to assist (whether through an instructing professional or public access) with advice in conference or on the telephone when there is an issue in an existing employment situation.  For employees, this might be where you have been called to a meeting to discuss a disciplinary matter, a grievance, a capability issue, a forthcoming redundancy exercise or a concern regarding ill health absence.  Similarly, we can help businesses and/or their managers or HR professionals step by step with these issues.

Insurers

Many solicitors come to us with a client who has the benefit of legal expenses insurance.  Where this is the case, we can provide swift, practical merits and quantum advice for clients and their insurers so that indemnity issues can be quickly resolved.

Public access instructions

Our team are happy to accept public access instructions, where appropriate.  The tribunal’s arrangements accommodate litigants managing their own case, allowing for expert advice and representation at the crucial stages of the case.  We can also assist employees and employers with settlement agreements on this basis too.

HR Advice

Where appropriate, our team can support your business (normally on a public access basis) with non-contentious matters for which expert input is required.  It might be a review of contracts; a plan for future redundancy or restructuring; assistance with policies or how best to lawfully and fairly effect change in your organisation.
